As soon as CBI got the responsibility of investigating the Sandeshkahli case, it has swiftly begun the process of collecting evidence against suspended TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh. Following Sheikh's custody, the CBI team conducted searches at his residences and offices in Sandeshkhali on Thursday evening to gather crucial information.
An official statement on Friday revealed that upon finding both premises locked, the CBI team proceeded to capture photographs and videos from outside. Subsequently, the team visited the Sheikh Shahjahan market, engaging with villagers to record their statements regarding the case.
A squad of central forces was also deployed along with CBI officers for security. The CBI team alos visited the local market to interact with the villagers and record their statements.
Sheikh Sahajahan and his associates are accussed with charges of sexual exploitation and land grabbing in the Sandeshkhali area. Sheikh was apprehended on February 29 from a residence in the Minakhan region, located approximately 30 km from Sandeshkhali on the outskirts of Sundarban.
